Epithalon (Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) based on the naturally occurring epithalamin produced by the pineal gland. Research has focused on its potential to stimulate telomerase activity, the enzyme responsible for maintaining telomere length at chromosome ends. Studies in cell culture and animal models suggest it may influence circadian rhythm regulation, melatonin secretion patterns, and antioxidant enzyme expression.
